Big Daddy B's Brand New Ride

BEFORE
Many of you may not know this, but my father is a very frugal man. He has driven this truck (pictured above), and a red one in a similar condition, since I have known him; that is a very long time. Let me explain this condition, because although a picture may speak a thousand words, It cannot truly tell you that this spray painted, rusted out, 10MPG hooptie was my father's prime mode of transportation. His reasoning? "It still runs doesn't it?" And he's right, that thing ran and ran and ran and ran and ran. It's still running... with no heat, floorboards that you can see the road pass by between your feet and an AM/FM radio that works only if you drive NNE. If that isn't enough, allow me to tell you about the time where the 'Old Blue' got stolen from in front of my dad's house.

The thieves RETURNED the truck!! Just Sayin'.

AFTER

Anyway, I am proud to announce that my father finally decided he was tired of driving an old rusted out clunker and that he deserved better. By the Grace of God He ran into a family friend, who just happened to be a Chevy Dealership Owner, and Pop expressed his woes. Thanks to Mr. GMC my Daddy is now the proud owner of a 2003 Chevy Extended Cab Silverado. 4-Wheel Rear Wheel Drive, heated seats and XM Radio. Let's give a round of applause for BDB!!! Welcome to the 21st Century Dawg.

Kielbasa Fried Rice

It was a very low key funday. Blackjack and Kansas City Chief went bike shopping today so there was no brunch. Sad. So we did Happy Hour instead. And by Happy Hour I mean it's Kim Chi's birthday! Yay! Cheers baby, let's go make Chicken Wings and Mambo Sauce!

LaQueishah and Becky 4.1

A very conniving District convinced me to go on a training run with him this morning. I was super nervous as I am very self-conscious when I run with people. But the trainer put me at ease immediately and before I knew it, this Sister and her gimp friend ran a whole 4.1 miles!! We are now rewarding ourselves with brunch at the local CoHi gastropub. So much for cardio.

International Foods Isle?

This is the "Mexican" Isle at the Front Royal food store. Goya is not an option in these parts. The "Chinese" isle consists of Top Ramen and La Choy canned entrees. Just kidding...I think

A Night at The Tremont

or Ellington
See more Kristin Chenoweth videos at Funny or Die

So I'm not up on the blog etiquette, but I totally just stole this from The District's friend Knee Deep in Mud. Stealing from a link from a link, probably plagiaristic but I totally can't stop laughing (Plus, I'm going through a stint of Writer's Block). Thanks KDIM. I will remove this post if I am violating any rules, just let me know. Might I also add folks, that this is the guy who had the misfortune (or not) to actually witness and document an actual "Ass for Crack" transaction.

Thank Goodness I Don't Drive

Cause I'm pretty sure this is how I would react...

Drinking on the Anacostia

So we 'discovered' a spot in SouthWest just down the street from H2O; you know? da' Club. As you can see it's just our style. These people have Jimmy Rigged an air conditioner; meaning a fan on top of a cooler full of ice for our comfort as we imbibe on $4 Tecate cans and Free Upgrades to Cadillac Margaritas. I like the P-River Rat

Oh Madge!

So I walk into work and this is the first thing I see. What lows has Leo's Shrimp Boat sunk to? Gotta give the girl props though; she puts out some well produced hits. Happy 50th Ester.

Escape from Peril!

Well kids, I made it back to civilization in one piece despite Kansas City Red's persistent pleas to keep me in the woods one more day. Thank goodness I left because this is what I would have encountered; a RATTLESNAKE!! I love nature but not when it threatens me. I had a blast in the woods. Many thanks to my guest blogger KCR; our camping coordinator and Grillmaster, Blackjack; The NOLA Housemaker for his efficient packing skills and cool gadgets (Friend, I can't stress the importance of a camping chair. While a color coated mess kit and a flammable $50 pillow is cute and all, a chair might make your stay a little more pleasurable.) And last but not least, thank you Barton Stanley for your courageous effort in reporting the previous skinhead camper's vandalism of our campsite; who needs Ghost Stories when you have a swastika staring you in the face while you eat? *shiver. What a blast see you for Camp Your Ass/Pants/Face Off!
Details to follow.

Did I mention I got to drive the Jeep? Aww yeah! It's a stick shift. I worked that beeznotch. and NOT in a dirty way.

Big wheels keep on turnin'

This is guest poster Kansas City Red and this my friends is Sister driving the jeep to the Shenedoah mountains. You might have to watch the local news for further updates.

Cookout on the Corner

Happy 4th from The Corner Connection! Big Bear and his wife had the grand idea to give us city rats a haven to go to whilst the masses went in droves to the mall to watch the fireworks. They 'borrowed' grills from neighbors and hosted a 'Pot Luck' Cookout. Cynthia, Rita Jean and I took a field trip to Omaha Steaks in the 703 and got tons of meat products. Here is The Mexican enjoying the fruits of our labor. Happy Cinco de Mayo Baby!
